Description The School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) as Texas Tech University (TTU) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery, at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to begin August 1, 2026. Department/College: Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine Position type: Tenured/tenure-track Rank: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Start date: August 1 , 2026, if not sooner While appointed to this position, you will accrue vacation and will be required to report leave monthly following TTU's Operating Policy 70.01 and TTU System Regulation 07.12. Requirements

In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a multi-faceted student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with various student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service. As a faculty member in the School of Veterinary Medicine, you will be expected to: Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external veterinary partners to support the mission of the School of Veterinary Medicine to educate practice-ready veterinarians and strengthen the rural and regional veterinary workforce of Texas and surrounding regions; Contribute to the teaching mission of the Schoolprimarily in food animal medicine, surgery, herd health, and production medicine with an emphasis on practical clinical decision-making relevant to rural veterinary practice, including: delivering didactic lectures within the pre-clinical veterinary curriculum, developing and facilitating hands-on laboratory instruction, contributing to case-based and clinical presentation courses, providing clinical instruction and mentorship of veterinary students during field-based teaching activities and clinical year rotations conducted through partner veterinary practices, and actively participating in curriculum development, course coordination, and assessment of student learning in alignment with the competency-based veterinary education framework utilized by the SVM; Contribute to the scholarship activities of the School through: participation in collaborative clinical or applied research programs relevant to food-animal medicine, production agriculture, or rural veterinary practice, efforts to secure extramural funding to support scholarship, and dissemination of scholarship through activities such as presentations, CE programs, and publications; Provide service to the School, University, and profession through: Committee work, as assigned, Outreach and continuing education activities that support livestock producers, practicing veterinarians, and the agricultural communities served by the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine, and Other activities as that support the SVM mission, the veterinary profession, and related communities; and Foster the Core Values of the SVM. Contribution to our Core Values is included as part of the annual evaluation of faculty performance. Faculty Qualifications: Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and be immediately eligible for veterinary licensure in the State of Texas at the time of hire. Demonstrated excellence in didactic and laboratory teaching Demonstrates or is developing the ability to disseminate knowledge through professional and lay presentations or publications. Engagement or interest in scholarly activity, including clinical and applied research. Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: 1. Board certification by one or more of the following: a. American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM-LAIM), b. American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), c. American College of Theriogenologists (ACT), d. American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM), e. American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP - Food Animal), or f. Additionally, candidates who are board-eligible or who possess substantial clinical experience in food-animal medicine and surgery are encouraged to apply. 2. A minimum of six years of professional experience following residency training or equivalent clinical experience. 3. Demonstrated strong commitment to food food-animal medicine, livestock production systems, and rural veterinary practice. 4. Experience teaching veterinary students in classroom, laboratory, or clinical environments. 5. Experience in herd-health management, production medicine, applied clinical research, or industry collaboration. 6. Participation in continuing education, outreach programs, or other professional development activities that support agricultural communities.
