What We Look For In a ACT Tutor

• Advanced Test Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of ACT English (grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, rhetorical skills), Math (pre-algebra through trigonometry), Reading (prose fiction, social science, humanities, natural science), and Science (data interpretation, scientific investigation, conflicting viewpoints). Ability to explain section-specific timing strategies and composite score calculation for college admissions.
• Strategic Test-Taking & Content Skills: Skilled at teaching fast-paced time management (English: 45 questions/45 min, Math: 60q/60min, Reading: 40q/35min, Science: 40q/35min). Guides students through passage skimming techniques, graph analysis, experimental design interpretation, and mathematical problem-solving shortcuts. Emphasizes strategic question order and score optimization through practice tests.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with ACT structure, common challenges including science graph interpretation, reading speed under time pressure, and trigonometry topics. Adapts instruction using official ACT practice materials, section-specific strategies, and diagnostic testing to build stamina and accuracy. Requires minimum ACT composite score of 31 and experience helping students achieve multi-point improvements.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
