Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – International Freight Forwarding

Job Summary:

As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the growth of ocean volumes and enhancing the development of our ocean product. You will work closely with the MD of Ocean to develop and implement strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. You will also serve as an ocean subject matter expert, supporting sales and operations teams to achieve their goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement strategies to increase ocean volumes and maximize competitiveness

• Collaborate with the MD of Ocean to analyze carrier service, routings, and carrier performance to identify areas for improvement
• Support carrier development, pricing, and negotiations to ensure optimal rates and services
• Analyze market conditions and provide insights to inform business decisions
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction
• Work closely with sales and operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Gather, analyze, and report information regarding performance and competitive activity
• Support sales and operations teams as needed to achieve volume targets and enhance service quality
• Manage annual budget and control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis
• Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., logistics, supply chain management, business administration)

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful strategies to increase ocean volumes and enhance service quality
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and provide insights
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen, with the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior ocean carrier experience

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps and other software tools
• Experience working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing

• Annual salary: $57,836.00 - $131,686.00 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
