Remote Agronomist and Soil Scientist
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Agronomist and Soil Scientist to join their innovative agricultural technology company. This is a fully remote, contractor position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the US. You will play a critical role in advising clients on sustainable farming practices, soil health management, crop optimization, and the implementation of cutting-edge agricultural technologies. Your work will directly impact crop yields, resource efficiency, and environmental stewardship for farms across diverse regions. Key Responsibilities: Conduct remote analysis of soil data, satellite imagery, and field reports to assess soil health, nutrient levels, and potential issues. Provide expert recommendations to farmers and agricultural businesses on crop rotation, fertilization strategies, pest and disease management, and irrigation techniques. Develop customized soil management plans to improve fertility, water retention, and overall soil structure. Advise on the selection and application of fertilizers, soil amendments, and other agricultural inputs for optimal crop performance and environmental sustainability. Utilize remote sensing and GIS tools to monitor crop growth, identify areas of stress, and recommend timely interventions. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agronomy, soil science, precision agriculture, and sustainable farming practices. Communicate complex scientific information clearly and concisely to a diverse audience of farmers, stakeholders, and technical teams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and agronomists, to enhance product development and service offerings. Generate detailed reports on soil analysis, crop performance, and recommended management strategies. Contribute to the development of educational content and best practice guides for clients. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural Science, or a closely related field. Proven experience (5+ years) in agronomy and soil science, with a strong understanding of plant physiology, soil chemistry, and ecology. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote setting, requiring self-discipline, strong communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency with remote sensing, GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), and data analysis tools. Experience with precision agriculture technologies and variable rate application concepts. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting technical information to non-technical audiences. Familiarity with various crop types and agricultural systems. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently. Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
