Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – International Freight Forwarding Industry

Job Summary:

We're looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Ocean Product Development Specialist to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product. As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with our MD of Ocean to develop and implement strategies that drive business growth, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. Your expertise in international freight forwarding, ocean contract negotiation, and rate analysis will be instrumental in achieving our goals.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support the growth of ocean volumes by developing and implementing strategies that drive business growth, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality.

• Collaborate with the MD of Ocean to analyze carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and carrier service issues to identify areas for improvement.
• Work closely with sales and operations to communicate direction and deliverables, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures to minimize company risk exposure and enhance service quality.
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded.
• Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required.
• Work with the MD of Ocean and the regional ocean management team to promote the ocean product and support sales and operations as needed.
• Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets.
• Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product.

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., logistics, supply chain management, business administration).

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing.
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen, with a strong understanding of the logistics industry and its trends.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., logistics, supply chain management, business administration).

• Experience in a leadership or management role, with a proven track record of driving business growth and improving service quality.
• Familiarity with industry-specific software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Certification in a relevant field, such as Certified Logistics Professional (CLP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
