Key Responsibilities
As a Remote Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for:
- Obtaining current patient information from established and new patients, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Entering and updating patient information in our scheduling system, maintaining up-to-date records.
- Identifying payer sources and verifying insurance eligibility, ensuring seamless billing and payment processes.
- Assisting patients with completion of paperwork when necessary, providing clear and concise instructions.
- Reviewing the Scheduling System for needed updated demographics and consent forms, scheduling appointments as required.
- Identifying patients by date of birth and name in our computer system, creating new accounts as necessary.
- Scheduling and rescheduling appointments as needed, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Demonstrating superior customer service skills, providing timely and polite responses to patient inquiries.
- Answering telephone calls in a timely and polite manner, preferably within three rings.
- Communicating with customers in a courteous, professional, cooperative, and mature manner, resolving issues promptly.
- Taking messages and conveying accurate information to recipients, ensuring seamless communication.
- Transferring calls to physicians and nurses when medically indicated, maintaining confidentiality.
- Protecting and observing patient confidentiality per policies and procedures, upholding the highest standards of care.
- Importing registration documents into patient's electronic health record, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Following up on outstanding A/R, including self-pay and/or resolution of denials, to achieve maximum payment on accounts.
- Handling all correspondence related to insurance or patient accounts, contacting insurance carriers, patients, and other facilities as needed.
- Working EDI transactions and ERA files, including reconciling carrier submissions, edits, and rejection reports.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues promptly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
