About Data Ventures
Our Data Ventures team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to empower customers, stores, and traders with technological innovation. We focus on areas such as customer data science, in-store services, supplier equipment, and search and personalization. Our goal is to build the best-in-class suite of data products to provide actionable, customer-centric insights and help traders and suppliers make better business decisions.
Job Responsibilities
As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leading data science initiatives and mentoring junior team members. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Data Source Identification: Identify and extract relevant data sources, perform preliminary data quality tests, and review deliverables from junior team members.
- Problem Formulation: Analyze business problems, identify root causes, and recommend solutions using data analytics, machine learning, and automation.
- Analytical Modeling: Develop and deploy machine learning models, conduct exploratory data analysis, and identify dimensions and designs of experiments.
- Model Deployment & Scaling: Work with MLOps to deploy models to production, continuously log and track model performance, and identify parameters that need adjustments.
- Code Development & Testing: Write code to develop solutions, create test cases, and contribute to code documentation.
- Applied Business Acumen: Evaluate business cases, influence stakeholder decision-making, and translate business needs into strategies and initiatives.
- Model Assessment & Validation: Identify and evaluate model assessment metrics, apply testing and tuning strategies, and ensure testing records are documented.
- Data Visualization and Storytelling: Recommend visualization tools, generate graphical representations of data, and present insights to various audiences.
What You Will Bring
* Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field, with a strong understanding of machine learning, statistics, and data science.
- Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or R.
- Ability to execute projects from start to finish, implement best practices in ML Ops, and clearly communicate with business, product, and application partners.
- Ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations into simple language and present insights to various audiences.
