We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Records Transcriptionist and Data Entry Specialist to join our team. This full-time role is a critical component of our radiology department, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient records.
About the Position
As a Medical Records Transcriptionist and Data Entry Specialist at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in supporting our radiologists and healthcare professionals in providing high-quality patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include transcribing radiology reports, updating patient records, and collaborating with our medical team to ensure the accuracy and completeness of reports. This position requires on-site presence, with some flexibility in hours based on the radiologists' schedules.
Responsibilities
* Transcribe radiology reports from dictated recordings and canned reports, including mammograms, ultrasounds, MRI, and other imaging modalities, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Update patient records with breast density, follow-up dates, surgical follow-ups, and physical charts, ensuring timely and precise documentation.
- Review and edit drafts for clarity, accuracy, and grammar, adhering to departmental and industry standards, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Joint Commission standards.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to clarify dictation and ensure the completeness of reports, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical standards related to patient information and medical records, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
- Prioritize and manage workload effectively to meet transcription deadlines and turnaround times, ensuring seamless operations and efficient workflow.
- Stay updated with medical terminology and advancements in radiology to enhance transcription accuracy and provide high-quality documentation.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a medical transcriptionist, specifically in radiology, with a strong understanding of radiology terminology and procedures, including mammography, ultrasound, MRI, and other imaging modalities.
- Proficiency in transcribing medical dictation using transcription software and word processing tools, such as electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical transcription software.
- Excellent typing skills and attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy in transcribing complex medical terminology, including abbreviations, acronyms, and medical jargon.
- Knowledge of medical ethics, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements related to healthcare documentation, including HIPAA and the Joint Commission standards.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification or diploma in medical transcription or a related field is preferred, such as the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) or the Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) credential.
- Familiarity with EHR systems, including arenaflex's proprietary EHR system, is necessary.
