Neway International are seeking an Experienced / Senior Social Worker – Children’s Services to join our client based with Lambeth Council

Location: 6 Brixton Hill, Lambeth, SW2 1RW

Rate: £28.94 PAYE / £39.04 Umbrella

Hours: 35 per week

Contract: on-going | Start 26 May 2026

The Role

Lambeth Council is recruiting Experienced / Senior Social Workers (PO3) with FSCP experience only to deliver high‑quality statutory social work across complex child protection, care proceedings and looked‑after children cases. You will lead on assessments, planning and interventions using systemic practice to create meaningful, sustainable change for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload involving multi‑agency input, high‑risk factors and challenging family dynamics.
  • Complete robust assessments, care planning and reviews using evidence‑informed practice.
  • Lead safeguarding enquiries and coordinate multi‑agency responses.
  • Prepare high‑quality reports and represent the Council in court proceedings.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with partner agencies.
  • Use reflective supervision to maintain resilience and high‑quality decision‑making.
  • Mentor and support less experienced staff where required.
  • “To undertake and devise in‑depth and robust assessments… and formulate recommendations for support plans.”

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with HCPC/SWE registration.
  • Significant post‑qualification experience in statutory children’s social care.
  • Proven ability to manage complex and high‑risk cases.
  • Strong understanding of legislation, statutory guidance and systemic practice.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture.

  • “Thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, statutory regulations and Government guidance.”
