Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – Strategic Growth and Carrier Management

Job Summary:

As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting the growth of ocean volumes, enhancing the development of our ocean product, and promoting our ocean services to customers. You'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to develop and implement strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. Your expertise in carrier development, pricing, and performance analysis will be essential in driving business growth and achieving our sales and operations goals.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support the growth of ocean volumes by developing and implementing strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality

• Work closely with the MD of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables
• Assist in implementing pricing programs and reviewing volume targets to ensure alignment with business objectives
• Develop and maintain relationships with ocean carriers to negotiate rates, quotes, and contracts
• Analyze carrier performance and competitive activity to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Manage annual budget and control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product
• Provide subject matter expertise to sales and operations teams to support customer inquiries and issues

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (e.g., logistics, supply chain management, business administration)

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience
• Proven expertise in ocean contract negotiation, rate analysis, and carrier management
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen, with a strong understanding of the logistics industry
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree or equivalent in a related field

• Advanced knowledge of logistics software and systems
• Experience with data analysis and reporting
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams
