Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – Strategic Growth and Carrier Management

Job Summary:

We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to support the growth of ocean volumes and develop strategies to enhance the effectiveness of our ocean product. As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction, deliverables, and market conditions. Your expertise will be essential in implementing pricing programs, analyzing carrier service, and supporting carrier development. You'll also be responsible for managing annual budgets, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results to achieve budget targets.

Key Responsibilities:

* Execute strategies to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product

• Work closely with the MD of Ocean to support carrier development, pricing, and analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and supporting carrier service issues
• Support sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert, providing guidance and expertise to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to our preferred network
• Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and working with the TLM to develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
• Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with the MD, Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables
• Direct and indirect customer contact will be required, working closely with product, sales, and operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required
• Work with the MD, Ocean, and regional ocean management team to promote the ocean product
• Support sales and operations as needed
• Manage annual budgets, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in managing annual budgets and controlling, monitoring, and reporting results

• Knowledge of ocean carrier operations and logistics
• Familiarity with ocean freight forwarding software and systems
• Experience in developing and implementing pricing programs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
