Senior Buyer - Raw Materials
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Buyer to manage raw material procurement for their operations, fully remotely. This role is critical to ensuring a stable and cost-effective supply chain for essential manufacturing inputs. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings initiatives. This is a remote-first position requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for key raw material categories to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. Conduct market analysis to identify sourcing opportunities, potential risks, and supply chain vulnerabilities. Lead supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and robust service level agreements. Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including forecasting, requisitioning, purchasing, and supplier performance management. Build and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with global suppliers and internal stakeholders across manufacturing, R&D, and logistics. Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and geopolitical factors that may impact raw material supply and cost. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function, focusing on cost reduction, process efficiency, and risk mitigation. Ensure compliance with all company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements related to procurement. Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, supplier performance, and market insights to senior management. Collaborate with R&D and Quality Assurance teams to evaluate and onboard new suppliers and materials. Develop and implement strategies to ensure supply chain resilience and sustainability. Mentor junior members of the procurement team and share best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in procurement, specifically managing raw materials or commodities in a manufacturing environment. Proven track record of successful negotiation, contract management, and strategic sourcing. Deep understanding of global supply chain dynamics and commodity markets. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, essential for remote collaboration. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Strong understanding of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) principles. Professional certifications such as CPSM or APICS are a plus. Must be legally eligible to work remotely within the US.
