Rural & Resilient Health Coordinator

Job Summary This role will focus on building proactive support for clean energy initiatives and climate health in rural Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of rural Wisconsin values and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, effective communication, and a proactive approach to community and volunteer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, coordinate, and empower volunteer teams of health professionals in advocating for and implementing rural clean energy initiatives. This will include staying informed about relevant legislation and action opportunities, resource creation, facilitation, mentorship, skill building, training, and more.
  • Develop expertise in relevant policy areas to improve outcomes.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders, including local organizations, community groups, students, healthcare institutions, and more, to identify best practices and inclusive solutions.
  • Build proactive support for climate health initiatives in rural communities by engaging with community members to understand their needs and perspectives.
  • Find and recruit health professional volunteers to the relevant teams in priority areas.
  • Plan and host community and networking events to raise awareness and educate health professionals and residents.
  • Learn about current trends and developments to inform, develop, and lead new program strategies.
  • Develop educational materials and resources for community outreach.
  • Coordinate the development of narrative, messaging, and communications materials that support climate-smart healthcare and rural clean energy.
  • Help build a more powerful, active, and cohesive organization through assisting in other tasks, such as outreach or member recruitment/development.

  • Has familiarity with remote working tools and a creative approach to technology.

  • Familiarity with rural stakeholders, challenges, and opportunities preferred.
  • Experience with social justice, public health, or environmental issues or programs preferred.

This is a full-time role compensated at $55,000-60,000 with a retirement match and a health, dental, and vision stipend. Healthy Climate Wisconsin offers paid leave for all federal holidays, in addition to paid sick and vacation packages. As a primarily remote role, hours and schedule can be flexible, but some evening hours will be necessary to coordinate with volunteer health professionals. In-person events and trainings in various parts of the state will be important for building partnerships and organizational strategies, and therefore, residence in Wisconsin and willingness to drive are a must. Candidates who live in rural communities, especially in Western, Northern, or Northeastern Wisconsin, are encouraged to apply.
