The Role Path is seeking a Designer with approximately 5 to 8 years of experience to support the development and delivery of signage, wayfinding, and environmental graphics systems across a range of clients and project types. This is a design role focused on the built environment. You will apply graphic and/or industrial design to create systems that function clearly, consistently, and at scale. Work spans concept through implementation, including strategy, design, documentation, and coordination. You will work closely with internal project teams and leadership to develop solutions. Coordination with architects, consultants, and stakeholders will be supported as needed, but the primary focus of this role is design, systems development, and documentation. What You’ll Do
- Design signage and wayfinding systems within the built environment, applying graphic and/or industrial design to real-world conditions
- Develop solutions from concept through implementation, including strategy, guidelines, and documentation
- Create sign families, messaging, and location plans that support clear, intuitive navigation
- Produce accurate, organized, and buildable documentation aligned with design intent
- Support team coordination and implementation efforts while maintaining consistency and attention to detail
- Contribute to internal team materials as needed, including presentations, diagrams, and visual communications
- Work within a collaborative, flexible team environment that values strong relationships, clear communication, and genuinely enjoying the work we do
Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years in graphic, industrial, signage, environmental graphics, wayfinding, or related design
- Strong fundamentals in layout, typography, hierarchy, and systems thinking
- Experience with design documentation and structured drawing sets
- Experience developing message schedules, sign types, and/or location plans
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams
- Understanding of scale, proportion, and the built environment
Preferred
- Familiarity with CAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools
- Experience in large, complex environments (aviation, healthcare, civic, etc.)
- Knowledge of materials, fabrication, and installation
- Experience coordinating with fabricators or reviewing shop drawings
- Experience developing signage and wayfinding guidelines
