UAS Pilot

Key Responsibilities
- Perform close visual inspections of distribution and transmission assets (poles, lines, substations)
- Capture high-quality visual and thermal imagery to client and engineering standards
- Execute missions in complex environments (energized conductors, vegetation, roadways, populated areas)
- Maintain strict adherence to QAS safety standards and utility-specific requirements
- Conduct pre-flight planning, risk assessments, and post-flight reporting
- Coordinate with inspectors, ground crews, and utility stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (current)
- Minimum 100 hours of logged UAS flight time (must be verifiable)
- Demonstrated experience with precision / close proximity flight operations
- Strong understanding of airspace, weather, and operational risk management
- Willingness to travel extensively (multi-week deployments common)
- Ability to work in variable terrain and weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing utility inspections (T&D, substations, telecom)
- Familiarity with LiDAR data acquisition workflows
- Thermography certification
- Experience operating NDAA-compliant platforms (e.g., Skydio, Freefly, Inspired Flight, ACSL, Parrot)
- Prior experience working with utility or engineering teams
Canada Operations (As Applicable)
- Ability to support operations in Canada is a plus
- Transport Canada RPAS certification or willingness to obtain
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
Engagement Structure
- Initial engagement will be as an independent contractor (1099)
- Contractors are expected to operate with independence in execution, while meeting defined deliverables and safety standards
- High-performing contractors may be offered full-time (W-2) positions as program demand grows
