Department: Department of Mathematical Sciences Department's Website: https://math.uark.edu/ Summary of Job Duties: The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences positions to start in August 2026. These are a standard nine-month faculty appointment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to conduct high-impact research in computational and applied mathematics or a closely related field. Additionally, we seek candidates who have enthusiasm for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and for supervising graduate and undergraduate research. One exceptional candidate may be considered for appointment to the Lawrence Jesser Toll, Jr. Endowed Chair in Mathematical Sciences, which is designed to support the academic and professional development of the holder. The holder of the Endowed Chair position is expected to lead in the building of a nationally competitive mathematical sciences program, encourage and engage in research in cutting-edge mathematics and foster the participation, recruitment and retention of undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment An active research agenda in mathematics, computational mathematics, applied mathematics, or a closely related field Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in mathematics at the graduate and undergraduate levels Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated research potential in computational and applied mathematics that complements, expands, and has potential for collaboration with the expertise of existing faculty in computational mathematics Strong record of successful publication and potential for external funding Evidence of experience in interdisciplinary research Evidence of experience mentoring students in independent research Additional Information: About the Department: The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers degrees with focuses on applied math, pure math and statistics.
