Prison Education Program (PEP) Face-to-Face Instructor

Position Summary: The Adams State University Prison Education Program (PEP) is seeking experienced instructors to develop and teach undergraduate courses for incarcerated students in Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) facilities located in Cañon City, Denver, and Limon. Preference will be given to instructors available to teach face-to-face inside correctional facilities. In some cases, courses may be live-streamed to additional sites or delivered via video platforms such as Google Classroom to meet instructional needs. Instructors are encouraged to use Open Educational Resources (OER) in place of traditional textbooks whenever feasible. All applicants must comply with CDOC regulations and successfully complete a background check and CDOC training prior to beginning instruction. Compensation

All face-to-face courses are offered on a semester basis with variable pay based upon credentialing, experience, and market demand. Terminally-qualified instructors will receive $3,600/course with instruction-related travel costs supported by the program. Benefits include retirement and sick leave.

Required Qualifications

Successful applicants must possess:

  • Master's degree in the subject of instruction OR a master's degree in any area of study and a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the subject of instruction.
  • College-level teaching experience
