Steel Trading Manager (Flat Products)
Job Title: Senior Steel Trader/Flat Product Trading Manager, North America Location: Chicago, US / or Remote Compensation: circa 150,000USD base + annual bonus (commensurate with experience) Imperium Commodity Search is exclusively seeking a flat products specialist in the US market on behalf of a major international steel trading business. Overseeing the flat products sales/trading business in North America, you will be responsible for leading the sales volumes in the Americas across all flats (HRC, HRP, CRC and Coated), working with the wider trading and sales team on cross-sell opportunity. You will have close relationships with steel mills across the Americas, and be able to leverage these to grow the trading book across your target product base in steel flat products. Responsibilities:
- Meet sales/trading volume targets across flat products in the North American steel space
- Maintain and build relationships with steel mills, producers and end-users in carbon steel
- Keep on top of market movements, industry news and pricing pressures to capitalise on trading opportunity and ensure margin in flat products
- Oversee both domestic and imported steel relationships to drive end-to-end trading flow across the market
- Limit claims exposure and ensure fluid, accurate and timely contract execution/operational processes
- Work with senior management on overall business planning, strategy and growth of carbon steel sales and trading in the Americas region
We would love to speak wtih you if you have:
- 8+ years experience in trading or sales of flat steel products in the Americas region
- An excellent understanding and knowledge of carbon steel/flat products, specifications and requirements
- A good understanding of INCOTERMS/UCP and freight/operations
- Excellent communication skills, with a good network with domestic steel mills
- Proven track record in growing a sales/trading book in the flat products/steel space
