Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join their fully remote team. This senior position requires a deep understanding of commercial insurance products, risk assessment, and underwriting principles. You will be responsible for evaluating complex commercial insurance applications, making informed decisions on coverage and pricing, and guiding a team of underwriters to ensure consistent and accurate risk selection. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of success in the commercial insurance industry. Key responsibilities include: Underwriting large and complex commercial accounts across various industries, including property, casualty, and specialty lines. Developing and implementing underwriting strategies and guidelines to achieve profitability and growth objectives. Mentoring, training, and supervising a team of commercial underwriters, providing technical guidance and performance feedback. Collaborating with brokers and agents to build strong relationships and understand client needs. Assessing financial statements, loss histories, and other relevant data to determine appropriate risk appetite and pricing. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies. Participating in product development initiatives and contributing insights from an underwriting perspective. Analyzing market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Contributing to the development and maintenance of underwriting tools and systems. Preparing reports on underwriting performance, portfolio analysis, and emerging risks. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. At least 7 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting, with a significant portion in a leadership or senior role. Comprehensive knowledge of commercial lines of insurance, such as General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Commercial Auto, and Property. Strong understanding of financial analysis and risk management principles. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven leadership and team management capabilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work setting. Relevant professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AU) are highly desirable.
