Video Editor for Funny / News-Style Bachelor Party Video
Project Overview: Hi there! I’m creating a 5–6 minute comedy “breaking news” style video for my best friend’s bachelor party. The tone is:
- CNN / Dateline meets Bravo / TikTok humor
- A mix of roast + sentimental tribute
This is NOT a traditional wedding video. It should feel like a real news segment that is funny, fast-paced, and slightly unhinged (in a polished way). Important: The humor is edgy, irreverent, and roast-driven (think close friends joking with no filter). Nothing hateful, but definitely not PG (will likely lean towards PG13 or R ; ). You should be comfortable leaning into that tone and helping elevate it. ⸻ Project Format: The video will be structured like a news package, including:
- “Breaking News” Anchor segments (pre-recorded, scripted delivery) from 1-2 “Anchors”
- “field reporter” segments (also pre-recorded scripted, comedic delivery) from 3-4 “reporters”
- “witness testimony” clips (friends roasting / talking head interviews) which friends will pre-record and submit.
- Funny Photo + video montage elements layered over copy / dialogue/vo throughout
- Music, sound effects, and pacing that mimic a real broadcast (possibly other fun pop music tracks if needed)
Assets: Client will deliver a complete asset package:
- All anchor and reporter video recordings
- All interview / “witness” testimonial clips
- A fully written script (structured like a real news story). It’s only 4 pages at the moment and won’t be too long. (Editor will assist by using her/his artistic judgement and sense of humor to decide what moments are best).
- A folder of photos and videos of the bachelor to weave, splice, and add throughout
- Clear references and tone direction.
Editor Will Need to be Skilled at both Editing / Storytelling in order to:
- Assemble everything into a tight 5–6 minute final video.
- Maintain clear narrative structure (like a real news segment).
- Select the funniest interview bites and trim for pacing and impact.
Comedy Timing / Strong sense of:
- Jump cuts
- Zoom-ins for emphasis
- Comedic pauses and beats
- Reaction timing
- Ability to make things feel quick, punchy, and intentional
News-Style Polish:
- Lower thirds (names, titles, funny descriptors)
- “Breaking News” and “Developing Story” graphics
- Subtle broadcast-style overlays (LIVE bug, etc.)
- tiktok style background replacement or enhancement for anchors (newsroom look is a plus)
Sound and Music: Adding appropriate:
- News-style music (urgent, dramatic, then sentimental at end)
- Sound effects for comedic moments
- Balance audio across all clips
- Pop centric tracks /,beats for montage moments.
Visual Integration:
- Seamlessly weave in:
- Photos
- Old videos
- Cutaways during narration
- Use visuals to enhance jokes (not just fill space)
⸻ Tone:
- YouTube documentary / commentary style
- Netflix “true crime parody” with “Talking Head” News Desk Structure.
- Fast-paced TikTok editing layered onto a polished structure.
This is Not:
- Slow wedding montage
- Corporate video
- Overly cinematic or dramatic edit
