Aurora Wilden View is a mixed-gender school for 5-19 year old students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behaviours linked to Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Opened in February 2024, our school is set within a beautiful 20-acre site and benefits from facilities that include a Science and Technology building, a polytunnel and Forest School provision. We provide high-quality education alongside bespoke specialist and therapeutic support. Take a look around using our online virtual tour: Visit our school We are looking for a Mathematics Teacher that is passionate about their subject and can deliver lessons in a creative, effective manner both inside and outside our classrooms. Holding high expectations based on sound assessment that also sees the potential for growth in each of our pupils. We are developing our curriculum and are looking for a teacher to work collaboratively with our existing teaching staff. We recognise that relationships are key and putting the right person with our pupils is the most important thing. Therefore, we want the best person for the role to meet the needs of our young people. The successful candidate will be required to teach Mathematics, developing the long term, medium term and short term curriculum alongside our Senior Team. Monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures Maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development Develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the content, process and intended outcomes in relation to the curriculum requirements and the child's learning needs Where required, contribute to the review of EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews 40 hours per week ~ Finish times: 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 3.45pm Friday ~ Includes 2.5 hours per week for ongoing training, development and additional duties PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training Evidence of ongoing professional development, particularly related to SEND, SEMH or inclusive teaching practice Experience teaching Mathematics at Key Stage 3, either within a special school setting or with pupils with significant SEND, SEMH and/or ASC needs in a mainstream environment Postgraduate qualification or additional certification in Special Educational Needs and/or Inclusion Experience of delivering Maths using an adaptive and flexible curriculum, tailored to meet a wide range of cognitive, emotional and social needs A strong commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEMH and ASC, placing wellbeing and engagement alongside academic progress Experience planning and delivering KS3 Maths lessons that are differentiated, accessible and motivating, using creative approaches to support learners who may be disengaged from formal education Experience or working knowledge of therapeutic, attachment-aware or trauma-informed teaching approaches (e.g. Confidence adapting teaching strategies to support regulation, resilience and positive behaviour for learning Ability to work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and therapists to support individual EHCP outcomes Willingness to contribute to the ongoing development of the Maths curriculum within a specialist SEN setting up to and including Post 16 Please complete an online application form in full, remembering to include all employment and education details.
