Senior Manager, Supplier Quality Engineer/QMS

Job Summary The Senior Manager, QMS/SQE will lead and manage Viavi Solutions' Quality Management System (QMS) and Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) functions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement across our global operations and supply chain. This role can sit remotely if not inside a VIAVI office – and will have extensive travel between the various VIAVI operations facilities, included but not limited to Wichita, KS; Santa Rosa, CA; Chandler, AZ; and sites also in EMEA/APAC. Duties & Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain an effective and compliant Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards. Lead and manage all aspects of supplier quality engineering, including supplier selection, qualification, auditing, performance monitoring, and corrective action implementation. Establish and maintain robust processes for managing non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and change control within the QMS. Oversee internal and external QMS audits, ensuring timely closure of findings and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, R&D) to integrate quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Develop and deliver QMS and SQE training programs for employees and suppliers. Drive continuous improvement activities using lean methodologies and quality tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC, 8D) to enhance product quality, reliability, and supplier performance. Monitor and report on key quality metrics and performance indicators to senior leadership. Manage a team of quality professionals, providing leadership, mentorship, and performance reviews. Stay current with evolving quality standards, regulations, and best practices. Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements: Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in Quality Management Systems and Supplier Quality Engineering within a manufacturing or technology environment. 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management role. Proven expertise in ISO 9001 implementation and maintenance; AS9100 or TL9000 experience a plus. Demonstrated experience in managing and conducting supplier audits and qualifications. Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders at all levels. Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM/OE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
