Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product. As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, carrier development, pricing, and sales and operations teams to implement strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. Key Responsibilities

* Execute strategies to support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product

  • Work closely with the MD of Ocean to support carrier development, pricing, and sales and operations teams
  • Analyze carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and support carrier service issues
  • Support sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert
  • Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality
  • Assist in implementing pricing programs and reviewing volume targets
  • Work with the TLM to develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
  • Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with the MD, Ocean, global trade lane team, sales and operations to communicate direction and deliverables
  • Direct and indirect customer contact will be required
  • Work closely with product, sales, and operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures to minimize company risk exposure and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets
  • Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
  • Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required
  • Work with the MD, Ocean, and regional ocean management team to promote the ocean product
  • Support sales and operations as needed
  • Manage annual budget; control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
  • Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing
  • Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office apps
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

* Experience in ocean product development and management

  • Knowledge of ocean carrier operations and logistics
  • Familiarity with ocean freight forwarding software and systems
  • Experience in sales and operations management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
