Job Responsibilities
As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Associate, you'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
Project Associate Duties
+ Retrieving patient medical records from various hospital systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness + Generating and preparing patient itemized bills in appropriate formats for internal and external audits + Extracting and entering necessary information from/to hospital patient accounting systems + Making phone calls to post-acute healthcare facilities to obtain information needed on patients + Running and creating reports to support data-driven decision-making + Assisting with any other information gathering or data entry as needed by the recovery team + Scanning and indexing of documents to maintain a secure and organized digital record
Data Entry and Medical Record Management
+ Accurately and efficiently entering data into various systems, including hospital patient accounting systems + Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements + Identifying and resolving data discrepancies, ensuring data integrity and quality
Communication and Collaboration
+ Building strong relationships with healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, coding professionals, and billing experts + Communicating effectively with post-acute healthcare facilities to obtain necessary information + Collaborating with the recovery team to ensure seamless project execution and timely delivery
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, medical records, or business administration) preferred
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in medical record management, data entry, or a related field
- Skills:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook + Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and hospital patient accounting systems + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Certifications: Certified Medical Record Specialist (CMRS) or Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Experience with revenue cycle management: Familiarity with revenue cycle management principles and practices
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations: Understanding of relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and ICD-10
- Experience with project management tools: Familiarity with project management tools, such as Asana or Trello
- Language skills: Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish or other languages commonly spoken in healthcare settings
