Job Summary

As an Experienced Full Stack Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in the exercise of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with national and federal regulations. You will use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB licensed, you will assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.

Key Responsibilities

* Assists pharmacists in the exercise of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with national and federal regulations

  • Uses pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information and process prescriptions
  • If PTCB licensed, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers
  • Models and provides a unique and delightful customer experience
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and providing assistance with services and products
  • Resolves customer issues and answers inquiries to ensure a superb customer experience
  • Fashions and shares customer service best practices with all team members to provide a unique and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and arenaflex service traits (e.g., providing help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until happy, etc.)
  • Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers
  • Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with national, federal, and agency policy
  • Reviews and complies with the arenaflex Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct
  • Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy manager, personnel Pharmacist, and store supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug records, ensuring information is entered efficiently, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets, verifying medication is accurate, and checking for possible interactions
  • Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow
  • Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to company rules and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the quality improvement program
  • Strictly adheres to the arenaflex Co. Policy regarding exact dispensing throughout all applicable prescription dispensing activities
  • Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles coins as required
  • Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in finding merchandise
  • Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians
  • Processes (corrects and resubmits) claims for third-party prescription services in a timely and efficient way, and performs other clerical responsibilities, as assigned by the store manager
  • Assists and supports Pharmacy department on stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of prescription drugs
  • Keeps knowledge of company asset safety procedures, and documents claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not obtained), order mistakes or broken goods related to Rx capsules
  • May assist pharmacist in administering medical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of medical services, arenaflex healthcare clinics, and external vendors
  • Assists Pharmacy manager and personnel Pharmacist in developing and maintaining true relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, through clinical provider detailing and outreach to healthcare agencies, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for reinforcing growth opportunities
  • Assists with outdoor and indoor maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with sufficient supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in appearance and condition
  • Complies with all company guidelines and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers
  • Completes unique assignments and other responsibilities as assigned

Education & Personal Development

* Earns and maintains PTCB Certification through the unique PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration

  • Otherwise, earns PTCB Certification as condition of promotion to senior technician
  • Attends training and completes PPLs asked by manager and acquires continuing education credit
  • Maintains expertise and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest information and developments
  • Through completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, experience qualifies for 8 (8) college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE)
  • This course is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/companion degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category for a total of 8 semester hours

Basic Qualifications

* Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)

Preferred Qualifications

* Choose to have six months of experience in retail settings

  • Choose to have previous work experience with arenaflex
  • Decide to have desirable math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications
  • Decide to have correct computer skills
  • Decide to have knowledge of store inventory management
  • Prefer PTCB certification
