Drone Operator - Aerial Photography
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and certified Drone Operator specializing in aerial photography and videography for a remote-first opportunity. This role will involve traveling to various project sites within Quebec and potentially across Canada, capturing stunning aerial footage for a range of commercial and industrial applications. You will be responsible for all aspects of drone operation, including pre-flight planning, execution, and post-flight data management. The ideal candidate must possess a Transport Canada Advanced Certificate, a proven track record in commercial drone operations, and a keen eye for cinematic composition. This is a fully remote position in terms of administrative tasks and planning, though the execution of flight operations will require physical presence at designated locations. You will work closely with project managers and clients to understand their visual requirements and deliver high-impact aerial content. Proficiency with various drone platforms and camera systems is crucial. Responsibilities: Conduct safe and efficient drone flights for aerial photography and videography. Plan flight paths, considering airspace regulations, weather conditions, and terrain. Operate drones and associated equipment to capture high-quality images and video footage. Perform pre-flight checks and ensure all equipment is in good working order. Post-flight data management, including downloading, organizing, and backing up footage. Edit raw aerial footage to produce polished final products, potentially including color correction and basic edits. Collaborate with clients and project managers to define project scope and visual requirements. Ensure compliance with all Transport Canada regulations and local bylaws regarding drone operation. Maintain accurate logs of flight times, maintenance, and operational incidents. Stay up-to-date with advancements in drone technology and aerial imaging techniques. Qualifications: Valid Transport Canada Advanced Certificate of Registration and Pilot Certificate. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience operating drones for commercial purposes, with a strong portfolio showcasing aerial photography and videography. Expertise in operating various drone models (e.g., DJI Mavic series, Phantom series, Inspire series) and camera systems. Proficiency in flight planning software and aerial mapping tools. Strong understanding of photographic principles, composition, and lighting. Basic video editing skills using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail. Ability to travel to project sites as required and work flexible hours.
