Remote Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to architect, implement, and manage our cutting-edge cloud infrastructure. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the US. As the Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions, primarily on AWS or Azure. You will lead a team of talented engineers, mentor junior members, and drive best practices in cloud operations, automation, and DevOps. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the performance, availability, and cost-efficiency of our cloud environment. This includes managing infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and automating deployment processes. You will play a key role in capacity planning, disaster recovery, and security hardening of cloud resources. Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions will be a significant part of your day-to-day responsibilities. Collaboration with development teams, security teams, and other IT stakeholders is essential to ensure seamless integration and support of applications. You will also be responsible for evaluating new cloud technologies and services, and recommending solutions that align with business objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). A proven ability to lead technical projects, manage competing priorities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within a remote team is crucial. Responsibilities: Lead the design, implementation, and management of scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure). Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployment. Oversee cloud security best practices, including access control, encryption, and vulnerability management. Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions. Manage containerization platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes. Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues in a timely manner. Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning of cloud resources. Mentor and guide junior cloud engineers, fostering team growth. Collaborate with development and security teams to ensure seamless operations. Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and services. Ensure cost optimization and efficient resource utilization in the cloud. Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering and operations. Proven experience leading cloud infrastructure teams or projects. Deep expertise in AWS or Azure cloud platforms. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible). Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI). Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). Excellent understanding of networking, security, and system administration principles. Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash). Exceptional problem-solving and debugging abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote setting.
