Position Overview
As a Details Expert I, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of sports data across our various platforms, including television, digital, and print. You'll work closely with our data team to gather and verify information, identify trends and patterns, and develop compelling stories that engage our audience. Your attention to detail and ability to work under pressure will be essential in meeting the demands of our fast-paced newsroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of sports data across our various platforms
- Work with data feeds and manual data entry to deliver precise, up-to-date, and engaging sports information
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop compelling stories and narratives that showcase our data-driven insights
- Identify trends and patterns in sports data to inform our storytelling and content development
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of sports, teams, players, and leagues
- Work closely with our data team to identify and resolve data quality issues
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of our content and data strategies
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in sports journalism and data analysis
Essential Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required; professional education or degree preferred
- 1+ years of experience in sports or data analysis, preferably in a media or journalism setting
- Strong understanding of sports, teams, players, and leagues
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
* 1+ years of experience in a media or journalism setting
- Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and research
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools
- Experience leading or training a team
- Ability to speak and write Spanish
- Experience incorporating social media into a business or news setting
