Job Summary
As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our Revenue Recovery Department team in ensuring that our clients receive the reimbursement they are entitled to. This is a hybrid position, with a mix of remote and in-office work, requiring 2/3 days of on-site work and 1/3 days of remote work. Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Retrieving patient medical records from various Hospital systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
- Generating and preparing patient itemized bills in appropriate formats for internal and external audits, adhering to regulatory requirements
- Extracting and entering necessary information from/to Hospital patient accounting systems, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality
- Making phone calls to Post-Acute Healthcare Facilities to obtain information needed on patients, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Running and creating reports to support the Revenue Recovery Department team, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Assisting with any other information gathering or data entry as needed by the recovery team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines
- Scanning and indexing of documents, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, business, or computer science) preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical records or data entry role, with a strong understanding of healthcare systems and regulations
- Excellent data entry skills, with the ability to accurately and efficiently enter information into various systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team of professionals
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and other healthcare software systems
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be highly desirable:
- Experience working in a healthcare revenue cycle or billing environment
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau)
- Certification in medical records or data entry (e.g., Certified Medical Record Specialist, Certified Data Entry Specialist)
