Experienced Data Entry Clerk / Remote Analyst – Retail Merchandise Planning Analytics

We're now seeking an experienced Data Entry Clerk / Remote Analyst to join our Merchandise Planning Analytics team for a 6-month contract with the opportunity for extension or conversion.
About arenaflex's Merchandise Planning Analytics Team
Our Merchandise Planning Analytics team is the backbone of arenaflex's retail merchandising operations. With a team of over 100 merchants and 40+ planners, we're responsible for managing reporting, analysis, and tool building to optimize performance of our Front End (non-Pharmacy) businesses. Our team is passionate about using data to drive business decisions and deliver exceptional results.
Work Environment
As a Remote Analyst at arenaflex, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the CST time zone. Our team is 100% remote, and we're committed to providing a seamless and productive work experience. You'll work a standard 8am-5pm schedule with a one-hour lunch break from 12pm-1pm. While we're flexible with our hours, we require a minimum of 30 hours per week to fulfill business needs.
Responsibilities
As a Data Entry Clerk / Remote Analyst, you'll be responsible for:
- Own Brand Reporting: Own and manage reporting, recapping, tracking, and analysis for thousands of Own Brand items at the item level. This includes ad-hoc analysis based on business needs.
- Item Level Historical Analysis: Conduct item level historical analysis and recapping to identify trends and patterns.
- Item Level Future Looking Forecast: Develop item level future looking forecasts to inform business decisions.
- System/Tool Used: Utilize Microsoft Excel to build complex formulas and synthesize large data sets into meaningful executive recaps.
- Project Scope: Manage a project scope of thousands of Own Brand items at the item level, requiring strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Top Must-Have Skills
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as analytics, data science, finance, financial analysis, assortment planning, retail, procurement/purchasing, or merchandising.
- 3-5 Years of Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in analytics, data science, finance, financial analysis, assortment planning, retail, procurement/purchasing, or merchandising.
- Retail Math Background: A strong understanding of retail math, including item level forecasting based on demand patterns or sell through/sales/profit goals, knowledge of sales by type and AUR impacts, and all inventory and sales metrics.
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel Skills: Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel, including SUM/SUMIFS, Subtotals, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Macros, and Pivot tables.
- Effective Communication: Strong communication and storytelling skills, both verbally and in writing, via Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Prioritization and Time Management: Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Ability to develop effective working relationships with Merchandising, Planning, Finance, and other stakeholders.
Top Nice-to-Have Skills
While not required, the following skills are highly desirable:
- MBA or Quantitative Degree: An MBA or degree in a quantitative analytical field, such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
- Data Science Experience: Experience in data science, including data analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.
- Retail Experience: Experience in retail, including merchandising, assortment planning, and inventory management.
- SQL Coding and Macro Building: Intermediate level skills in SQL coding and macro building.
Education / Experience Requirements
To be considered for this role, you'll need:
- 3-5 Years of Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in analytics or data science, with a merchandising background.
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a related field.
