Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Data Entry Specialist/Billing Clerk to join our team on a 5-month contract-to-hire basis. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for accurate and efficient data entry, billing, and claims processing. Your expertise in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems will enable you to navigate complex insurance claim submission processes and payer guidelines.
Responsibilities
As a Medical Data Entry Specialist/Billing Clerk, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Accurate and efficient data entry of patient information into our computer system
- Verifying patient information in the system to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Checking payer portals for claims status and resubmitting claims as necessary
- Following HIPAA guidelines to provide medical records to primary care providers, insurance carriers, referred providers, and patients as requested
- Collaborating with the team to achieve shared goals, meet deadlines, and provide support when needed
- Participating in team-oriented tasks and activities to ensure seamless workflow and excellent customer service
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 1 year of experience in medical billing and data entry
- Proficiency in medical billing software and EHR systems
- Knowledge of insurance claim submission processes and familiarity with various payer guidelines
- Experience working with Medicaid and understanding of its specific requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Great references from past employers and strong tenure
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Schedule and Work Environment
This is a remote opportunity with a flexible schedule, including:
- Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm CST (with additional flexibility once through training)
- Business casual dress code
- Access to provided equipment and technology
