Experienced Part-Time Remote Customer Service Specialist – Healthcare and Insurance Navigation

Key Responsibilities
As a Remote Part-Time Customer Service Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Navigating the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capturing and documenting demographic and financial information, and maintaining patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
- Managing a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service in a variety of situations.
- Leveraging critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity, researching complex issues in the electronic health record, and consulting/escalating to clinical staff when necessary.
- Scheduling patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifying and updating insurance, checking insurance eligibility, collecting and documenting demographics, and maintaining proficiency in and sharing knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions.
- Communicating directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after-hours, managing calls within established performance and customer service standards, and achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.
Essential Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of recent healthcare or customer service experience
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, as determined by arenaflex
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide excellent customer service in a variety of situations
- Proficiency in electronic health records and ability to navigate multiple job aids and resources
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on patient satisfaction and quality care
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a healthcare or customer service environment, with a focus on patient navigation and communication
- Familiarity with electronic health records and insurance basics
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends (not required, but may be necessary)
