The Distributed Systems Engineer Team
Our Distributed Systems Engineer team is responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our platform. We're a small, agile team that's passionate about distributed systems and open-source technology. We believe in working closely with our colleagues and partners to drive innovation and excellence. Our team is responsible for designing, building, and operating the distributed systems that power our platform, including our database access layer, data platform foundation, and big data processing systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Distributed Systems Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for:
- Designing and building scalable, distributed systems that can handle high traffic and large data sets
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and excellence
- Working closely with our data platform foundation team to build and maintain our data platform
- Contributing to the development of our big data processing systems, including our data warehouse and data lake
- Participating in code reviews and ensuring high-quality code is delivered to production
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with our distributed systems in a timely and efficient manner
- Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in distributed systems and big data processing
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems or applications
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and big data processing
- Experience with Java or other object-oriented programming languages
- Knowledge of database systems, including relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or GCP
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with big data processing systems, including Hadoop, Spark, and Flink
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data lake technologies
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins and GitLab
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS Lake Formation or GCP BigQuery

- Strong technical skills, including programming languages, database systems, and cloud-based platforms
