WordPress Backend Developer
Job Title – WordPress Backend Developer Location – Bellevue, WA (Remote) Duration – Long Term Note: Visa Independent candidates are encouraged to apply. Job Description: Responsible for developing, customizing, maintaining, and supporting WordPress-based websites and blogs with a focus on performance, security, accessibility, and scalable publishing workflows. Works closely with content marketing and operations teams to enable reliable blog staging, publishing, and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Customize and extend existing themes and plugins
- Convert Figma / PSD / XD designs into responsive WordPress websites
- Optimize website performance, speed, and SEO
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and external systems
- Manage website security, backups, and updates
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across environments
- Manage deployments from local → staging → production
- Configure hosting environments and domain setups
- Maintain version control and follow proper release processes
- Monitor live environments and resolve production issues
Deployment / DevOps Requirements
- Experience with Git-based workflows
- Ability to handle manual and automated deployments
- Experience working with staging and production environments
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (preferred)
- Experience with hosting platforms:
- cPanel, Plesk, AWS, Digital Ocean, Cloudways
- Database migration and environment configuration
- SSL setup, DNS management, and server configuration basics
Required Technical Skills
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
- Custom theme development experience
- Plugin development & customization
- Understanding of REST APIs
- Website performance optimization techniques
- Security best practices
