The team

Join our corporate governance legal team working on matters such as corporate governance, board management, and international corporate structuring, compliance and licensing to further Kraken's mission.

The opportunity

  • Lead legal work for domestic and international corporate governance, regulatory compliance, international registrations, and management of subsidiary entities

  • Collaborate closely with business executives and colleagues in the legal, tax, HR, treasury, and finance departments on domestic and international corporate governance, corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, and related securities matters

  • Contribute to a growing corporate legal team that is building out org structure, playbooks, and processes

  • Review and collaborate with compliance professionals on AML, KYC/UBO compliance, and other regulatory aspects

  • Provide support for corporate development activities, including mergers and acquisitions and strategic corporate partnership

  • Provide creative, innovative, and effective legal solutions for business stakeholders

Skills you should HODL

  • 3+ years of dedicated corporate legal experience supporting boards and board governance, including advising on statutory obligations, board composition, meeting management, and governance best practices

  • 6+ years of overall relevant experience in corporate law, to include a blend of in-house and law firm, plus relevant experience in a regulated industry/context with substantial exposure to or experience in a high-growth technology company

  • JD from a well regarded law school and membership (in good standing) in a US state bar

  • Interest in the crypto industry / what our company is offering to the world and why

  • Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills

  • Excellent project management, negotiation, drafting, and time management skills

  • Honed executive communication skills

  • Excellent business judgment, analytic rigor, and legal pragmatism

  • Mindset that is team-oriented, plus proactive and entrepreneurial: an opportunity-making person who uses the law to increase the company's optionality, not decrease it

Nice to haves

  • Experience with subsidiary governance, particularly across international or multi-jurisdictional structures

  • Experience supporting subsidiaries in highly regulated industries — particularly banking, payments, crypto, or fintech — is a strong plus

  • Experience interacting with domestic and international regulators

  • Experience with regulated financial services firms more broadly

  • Experience both in-house and at a law firm

Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
