Brooks & Berne PLLC is a minority-owned insurance defense firm committed to providing aggressive, proactive representation. They are seeking a junior litigation associate to join their insurance defense team in New Jersey, where the associate will gain hands-on experience in managing litigation files and supporting senior attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing litigation files and handling assigned tasks with increasing independence
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands/responses, and legal memoranda
- Support depositions and court appearances, with mentorship and supervision
- Conduct legal research and communicate with clients and carriers
- Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and trial preparation
- Comply with reporting guidelines and firm procedures
Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admitted to the New Jersey Bar
- 1-3 years of experience in litigation
- Prior law clerkship experience strongly preferred
- Interest in insurance defense, personal injury or general liability matters
- Prior internship/clinical experience in litigation or insurance defense (preferred)
- Strong research and writing skills
- Interest in insurance defense, personal injury or general liability matters
- Eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and attention to detail
