TAX TECHNICIAN I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is dedicated to efficiently collecting revenue that supports essential public services. The Tax Technician I role involves performing technical duties and support functions related to tax programs, including account maintenance and taxpayer communication.
Responsibilities
- Performing account maintenance
- Initiating contact with taxpayers
- Accessing and reviewing taxpayer information
- Processing lien release invoices
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail
- Prioritizing and distributing all correspondence
- Managing initial case intake and assignment control reviews
Skills
- Under the close supervision of the Business Tax Administrator (BTA) I, the Tax Technician (TT) I performs the less difficult and complex technical duties and support functions for the unit
- This may include, but is not limited to, applying laws, rules, and policies relating to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration's (CDTFA) programs
- Performing account maintenance
- Initiating contact with taxpayers
- Accessing and reviewing taxpayer information
- Processing lien release invoices
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail, which may include handling sensitive and confidential information, including that from other agencies
- Prioritizing and distributing all correspondence
- Managing initial case intake and assignment control reviews
- Travel may be required for up to five percent (5%) of the time for training purposes
