About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Big Data Software Engineer to join our team on a part-time basis, working remotely from New Jersey, USA. As a Senior Big Data Software Engineer at blithequark, you will play a critical role in leading moderately complex initiatives and projects within our technical domain. You will contribute to the large-scale planning of systems, design, code, test, troubleshoot, and report on projects and initiatives related to our technology space, including upgrades and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead moderately complex initiatives and projects within technical domain conditions
• Contribute to large-scale planning of systems
• Design, code, test, troubleshoot, and report on projects and initiatives related to our technology space, including upgrades and services
• Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth assessment of technologies and systems
• Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing customer needs or potential new customer needs while utilizing a strong understanding of the capability, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
• Collaborate and communicate with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve objectives
• Lead projects and act as an escalation point, providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• 3+ years of programming experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Hadoop
• 3+ years of experience with Teradata
• 3+ years of experience with MongoDB
• 3+ years of experience with AWS
• 3+ years of experience with GitHub and Bitbucket
• 3+ years of experience designing, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and reporting for projects and initiatives
• 3+ years of experience in Python and Unix/Shell scripting, Scala, Spark, HBase, Oozie, Flume, and Kafka
• 3+ years of experience in Ansible

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following skills and experience are highly desirable:

• Strong interpersonal skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels of technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and have a proactive mindset
• Experience in designing ETL data streams using creating mappings/workflows to extract data from SQL Server and Data Migration and Transformation from Oracle/Access/Excel Sheets using SQL Server SSIS
• Related experience working as a Software Engineer at blithequark
