Job Overview

We're currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tractor Yard Switcher I to join our team. As a Switcher I, you will play a critical role in supporting our inbound unloading and outbound loading warehouse operations. Your primary responsibility will be to transport full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking locations in the trailer yard, ensuring that all movements are carried out in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking spaces, ensuring that all movements are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
• Conduct inspections of trailers before transporting to identify any issues with mechanical maintenance needs or potential safety hazards, and tag out any trailers requiring attention.
• Maintain the organization of the trailer yard to ensure the efficient and safe transport of trailers, and perform other tasks as determined and requested by management.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the work area and warehouse, and ensure that all equipment is operated in a safe and responsible manner.
• Collaborate with other team members to coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes, and adapt to the needs of the role in different work areas throughout the workday.
• Perform duties other than switching as assigned, including operating a forklift and other PIT equipment within the warehouse.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of work experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to read, write, and use a radio.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere while walking and repetitively lifting 30 lbs.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to collaborate within a team environment and coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

• PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification, including Pallet Jack, Forklift, Double Forklift, and Switch Tractor.
• Previous experience working in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Ability to work in a noisy and non-temperature-controlled environment (hot in summer, cold in winter).

• Attention to detail and ability to differentiate packages.
• Ability to work while exposed to the elements and in a noisy and non-climate-controlled environment.
